Chicarita is an appealing cross of romaine and iceberg with the thick, crunchy texture, sweet flavor, and excellent shelf life of an iceberg and the upright habit and color of a romaine. Cupped leaves are perfect for use as a wrap or to hold a myriad of ingredients for snacking. Very slow to bolt and strong against tipburn.

Thinning technique

After you've transplanted your seedlings to the grow shelf. Each pod should be thinned to 1 seedling. To do this pull out the excess seedlings using a pair of tweezers or your fingers gently.

 
 

Harvesting technique

As a leaf lettuce, this plant can be harvested either as a full head or leaf by leaf. Harvest the entire head at the base, or cut the largest outer leaves at the base of their stem.
